Project Details

The New Child Development Center in Durant, Okahoma, is a newly constructed 19,532 SF structure for the Durant Area Head Start and Daycare programs of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. The building features a facility laundry room, 3 Head Start classrooms, 3 Daycare classrooms, a teacher workroom and administration offices for each program. Student meals are prepared in the facility's full kitchen and served in each program's dedicated two dining rooms that also serve as the building's storm shelters. The Dining / Shelter Rooms are constructed with reinforced concrete walls & roof deck with tornado missile resistant doors for the safety of staff & students.

Prior to the completion of the structure, a 6,275 addition was added to the project for an After School Program operated by the Choctaw Nation Daycare program. This addition (Project E09-06) provided space for two large after school rooms, a snack area, a 2,000 SF multi-purpose / indoor playroom and after school program support spaces, bringing the total building area to 25,807 SF
